Allison has bachelor’s degrees in English and theater, and a master’s in journalism with emphasis in integrated marketing communications. She has taught writing courses in the School of Journalism and New Media and the Department of Writing and Rhetoric at the University of Mississippi since 2015. She is the author of 17 books and numerous articles; a professional freelance editor and former executive editor of Invitation Magazines; and a founding faculty member of New York Writers Workshop. She has taught writing classes and workshops for all ages from teens to seniors through the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council in Oxford and through the West Side YMCA Writers Voice, NYWW, and the Jewish Community Center in New York City. As an undergraduate, she competed on the UM forensics team in speech and interpretive events and taught acting classes for kids through the Oxford Park Commission. She enjoys working with kids, teens, college students and adults, on organizational skills, speeches, and absolutely any kind of writing.
